ICCP systems consist of long life anodes connected to a transformer- rectifier powered by commercial AC power mains, where available. Otherwise, solar power panels may be used, which provide direct current. However, the uncontrolled voltage and current of solar panels must be transformed to a controlled voltage and current for proper structure protection. The voltage control device is typically called a solar cathodic protection rectifier.
